The acceptance of external funding for research projects cannot compromise Duke's core missions - teaching, research and service for the public good. A sponsor may not restrict publication and participation rights to protect the results of our research for proprietary (industry) reasons or national security (government) reasons. Our research results must go into the public domain where anyone can have access.
No research can be undertaken at the University that involves information, research or results of research that are, or would be, classified by the sponsor or any third party.
The University will engage in working relationships with industry only to the extent that it can maintain the integrity and independence of the University, its faculty, and students.
Grant Proposal Submissions:
All applications for sponsored programs, regardless of amount, source of funding or type of project, must be reviewed and approved by the Office of Research Support (Campus) or the Office of Research Administration (Schools of Medicine and Nursing).
